If you want to take your family camping, but you don't have any camping equipment, then you should go shopping at the sporting goods store. This is one place you can go to where you can get most of the things you will want and/or need for your camping trip. You can learn about some of the things you'll want to purchase, as well as things to consider while shopping for your camping gear. Here is some information for you to keep in mind: 

Choose the right tent

There are a lot of different tents to choose from. One of the most important decisions you will make is with regard to the size of the tent you go with. When looking at the different tents, you will see that they tell you how many people each tent fits. However, you want to go larger if you plan on bringing a good amount of things with you, or if you plan on using air mattresses that take up more room than sleeping bags. You also want to go for a tent that gives you the shape you want, but that's also going to be easy for you to put up. 

Consider air mattresses

Some people do fine using sleeping bags. However, if you or anyone in your family is going to have a hard time sleeping on the ground in just a sleeping bag, then air mattresses are great. They usually come with pumps to blow them up, and some even have blow-up pillows that come with them. Another thing to consider is air mattresses make it easier to stay warm because you won't be lying right on top of the solid ground. 

Choose fishing gear

If you want to fish while you are camping, then you may need to stock up on some more fishing gear. Or, if you don't have any fishing gear of your own, then you will need to buy everything that you'll need to fish. 

Buy camping tools and equipment

There are some things you're going to want to have on you while you're camping. The bare minimum that you should have includes a multi-tool pocket knife, a single-blade knife, a hammer, a screwdriver, a fire starter, a ready-to-go first aid kit, a water purification kit, lanterns, flashlights, and anything else you think you'll want or need to have with you while you are camping. All the things mentioned here should be available at most sporting goods stores.
